Toppers do not study more of everything; they study exactly what the exam rewards. Lok Sewa publishes its syllabus and its past papers — together they form a complete map of what to learn and in what proportion. Building this map is week one's work and it multiplies every hour that follows.

- Download the official syllabus for your exact post and service — patterns differ between Kharidar, Subba and officer levels
- Collect 3-5 years of past papers; tally questions per topic to reveal true weightings
- Mark every syllabus topic: strong / average / weak against your current knowledge
- Allocate study time by (weight × weakness): heavy-weight weak topics first, strengths last
- Note the paper structure: sections, marks, time and negative marking define your technique targets
- Revisit the map monthly — it is a living document, not a ritual
In Practice
The tally exercise regularly surprises candidates: topics they fear (often mathematics) may carry few marks, while neglected areas (constitution, governance) dominate. Emotion allocates study time badly; the tally allocates it well.
